It is very irritating to me when I encounter medical professionals (including some that have cared for my children...I was outraged by some of the level 2 NICU nurses when Caroline had a short stay there after birth..still makes me mad 8 months later lol!) that act like most mothers have no common sense to care for their own babies. Sure, sometimes a little support/advice/encouragement is needed to help guide a parent in the right direction but in general the momma knows the baby best and is best suited to make decisions including whether to vaccinate or not vaccinate or take the middle road like I did. I try my best to always remember that when giving advice to parents! Unless it is a life-threatening situation, I feel the decisions of the parents should be respected and not ridiculed. Sorry for my soapbox--I'm off of it now! Just something I feel strongly about!Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06386475172223955087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2400760593155541648.post-87280659029862974732011-01-07T07:38:46.710-08:002011-01-07T07:38:46.710-08:00Jess, you are welcome! It is a very, very complicated issue, with lots of factors to consider. Many of my loved ones have chosen the route you are taking, I think it is wonderful that as a nurse you respect those who ultimately decide to go a different route**thank you**... and I'm so glad your pediatrician does too! : )Elisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01989809660311717995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2400760593155541648.post-78371182871394361912011-01-07T07:20:18.595-08:002011-01-07T07:20:18.595-08:00Interesting topic...thanks for posting!

As a nurse, obviously I know all the reasons to vaccinate and I think vaccination is important BUT I was extremely uncomfortable with injecting all that stuff into my own little child at one time, especially when we had no reason (daycare, etc) to do it. Finally, just after Rosalyn was born I decided I was most comfortable with the "middle ground" meaning that we DO vaccinate, but on a much slower, spread out schedule. So far, I have felt ok with this, my kids haven't had any huge side effects, and our pedi has been more than willing to work with me.

I do respect the opinion of parents who choose to not vaccinate at all or to vaccinate fully "right on schedule"...it should be the parent's choice!Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06386475172223955087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2400760593155541648.post-54406089023768129082011-01-06T23:30:20.310-08:002011-01-06T23:30:20.310-08:00WOW. I ...WOW. Consider the rock I have been under MOVED.
I had no idea fetal tissue was used in vaccines.
How woefully uneducated I was on the issue.

Thank you so much for the information !
I really appreciate it.Jess Turmannoreply@blogger.com
