To Vaccinate or Not to Vaccinate... That is the Question

A very, very hot topic question.

Why? Because everyone loves and wants what is best for their child(ren).

I could get super complex with this touchy issue, but let me just state my position simply.

I chose not to vaccinate my children. From my viewpoint, I have no reason to, and a lot of reasons not to. I homeschool. My children have not/will not go to daycare. Etc., etc., etc.

I don't judge you or think you are a terrible person if you do vaccinate your kids, could you please extend the same courtesy to me for choosing not to?

Most of my closest friends vaccinate their children. We disagree. We still love, and like, each other.

While I would not use all of the language used in some of these articles/websites, I think there is excellent information here to consider:

***edited to add: click here to read some information on Dr. Robert Mendelsohn(author of the article of the first link I have provided). I acknowledge this study is from 1984. I still place a lot of weight in his conclusions because I have not yet seen medical information that disqualifies or out-dates his findings.***

As a woman who has had an abortion at Planned Parenthood when I was 18 years old(and deeply regret that decision), I have followed abortion issues closely since then. The extent of the abortion industry was brought to my attention through my training to become a counselor at my local Crisis Pregnancy Center. I counseled weekly for two years, and experience and personal testimonies confirmed many of the unfortunate, and downright ugly, things I had read or heard about.

Why am I talking about abortion and vaccines? Aborted fetal tissue is what many of the common vaccines use as their original source for diseased tissue.

Others use chickens, rabbits, monkeys, and cows.

Here is a link to a list of ingredients in vaccines(read where it says :Animal ByProducts):

There is so much more. I am sure this is more than enough to absorb and think about for a "first pass" though.

Please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions, information and perspectives you value, with me!

Not always comfortable... but good! I look forward to being sharpened by your love for me and the Truth!

This was written with prayers, deep love, and respect, for you.

WOW. Consider the rock I have been under MOVED.
I had no idea fetal tissue was used in vaccines.
How woefully uneducated I was on the issue.

Thank you so much for the information !
I really appreciate it.

Interesting topic...thanks for posting!

I struggled a lot with the issue of vaccinating vs not vaccinating. As a nurse, obviously I know all the reasons to vaccinate and I think vaccination is important BUT I was extremely uncomfortable with injecting all that stuff into my own little child at one time, especially when we had no reason (daycare, etc) to do it. Finally, just after Rosalyn was born I decided I was most comfortable with the "middle ground" meaning that we DO vaccinate, but on a much slower, spread out schedule. So far, I have felt ok with this, my kids haven't had any huge side effects, and our pedi has been more than willing to work with me.

I do respect the opinion of parents who choose to not vaccinate at all or to vaccinate fully "right on schedule"...it should be the parent's choice!

Jess, you are welcome! The info was mostly new to me as well when I started counseling!

Jennifer, I completely understand! It is a very, very complicated issue, with lots of factors to consider. Many of my loved ones have chosen the route you are taking, I think it is wonderful that as a nurse you respect those who ultimately decide to go a different route**thank you**... and I'm so glad your pediatrician does too! : )

You are welcome and I do respect the decision of you and others who choose not to vaccinate. It is very irritating to me when I encounter medical professionals (including some that have cared for my children...I was outraged by some of the level 2 NICU nurses when Caroline had a short stay there after birth..still makes me mad 8 months later lol!) that act like most mothers have no common sense to care for their own babies. Sure, sometimes a little support/advice/encouragement is needed to help guide a parent in the right direction but in general the momma knows the baby best and is best suited to make decisions including whether to vaccinate or not vaccinate or take the middle road like I did. I try my best to always remember that when giving advice to parents! Unless it is a life-threatening situation, I feel the decisions of the parents should be respected and not ridiculed. Sorry for my soapbox--I'm off of it now! Just something I feel strongly about!
